Pals Bobby & Tim used to record religious TV, just so we could go back later and have a nice laugh. This was one of their better finds. It’s about a kiddie birthday party that goes awry when the puppets hit dad’s liquor cabinet. Bobby summed this up well: puppets can’t ad-lib. (Listen how the boy puppet shoots the wheels off of girl puppet when he says he hopes he gets a Game Boy.)

is jan crouch doing one of the voices?
why is the main character mentally handicapped? his speech problem confuses me.
why does dad lecture as if he’s trying to make a producer happy?
The main character is enfeebled…he’s perpetually three years old, even as his friends have gone on to junior high.
This party’s too soft for Big John. And his beret.
Why, when they go to check out the liquor cabinet, does Big John crouch and bobble, like he’s going to hide under the couch, or examine the main character’s buttocks up close?
Kudos to Tim. He was the finder of all these gems. Like a dogged prospector sifting through dirt for nuggets of real goodness.
The first script revision included mandatory mention of liquor’s only legitimate use: “just for cooking.”
Yes, the puppeteers are clearly working off of bullet points which include:
-liquor is for cooking
-God’s word goes into you/comes out
-something about party entertainment
-soft drinks are no good to Big John — joke about “FIZZling out”?
I miss the old days.
I hate these puppets so much.
